So what this thread be all about you might ask?
I want to get better at modelling and for "starters" at low poly models - so I would really appreciate some advice from you guys =)

The goal for my little twisted version of Cole McGrath (Infamous) was that he should look like a little sketch I did a week ago. For the Tris limit I set myself to 1500 and currently I am at 1822, so there is still some parts to improve for sure.

Here are some screengrabs from Maya...if someone wants some other views just tell me.

Still not sure if I should model his backpack also - what do you say?

Cheers

Ahh very cool. Personally I prefer the regular proportioned characters but there are those who love the caricature-type models! I mean, modeling the backpack can't hurt that much :D! Polywise the backpack could be less than 30. I don't really see a way you could reduce many polys from the screenies without losing the smoothness of your edges. I think it's really good :P
Are you going to release it on completion? That would be awesome, but it's your choice of course!

Thank you Ebon-e for your nice words.... I am just not really sure what you mean by "releasing" it. ^^

I don't have a special preference for caricature-styled characters...I simply thought it would be easier to model a more cartoony guy because it is okay to be a bit more "sloppy" with the anatomy as with a complete realistic dude...IMHO :)

I did some minor polishing with the Topo and I deleted some edges but I think I will stop here now. The backpack i will do, if I ever have to much time left :)

Next step: UV mapping - Oh yeah :polycon-rocking:

Posted ImageI'm glad our community has a friendly vibe, we plan to maintain that.
Inside every artist are 10,000 bad drawings, so keep working until you get them out of the way and concentrate on the good stuff.

From what I could see his hands are in an unnecessary amount of vertices, and the top of the head and the side is a very sharp corner.

The basic model is certainly excellent, now is to refine the amount of polygons

@ paradise: thanks man!
@ Ebon-e: okay - i guessed so - shouldn't be a problem...if I ever finish it :D

@ mcunha98: thanks for the advice - I already reshaped the head (a little bit) as also the jacket and some other minor detail. According to the hands -> I thought I need some extra vertices for bending the fingers...but maybe I still could loose some of them

Hi guys...

yeah slow progress but I am still working on it :)

I finally decided to try some Cell-Shading look for this one - so I played a little bit with the texture, added some more details and shadows. Next step will be a little more folds on the pants and some minor over all improvements.

Any comments someone?
:)
